FNC Starburst (Hull Number 10201) was built some twenty years after the Hundred Years War. Although it seems to vary little from the outmoded Mark II cruiser, which was used towards the end of the war, the Mark III was a short-lived improvement. The traditional trebuchet setup was replaced with a revolutionary turret that extended the already impressive range and power of a cruiser two fold. However, the turrets on the Mark III cruisers had a dangerous flaw. With the pressures involved and the need to allow fire benders to ignite the ammunition, the turrets, nicknamed 'Fire Crackers' by crews, were notorious for ship-damaging backfire that, in one instance, sunk the ship attached to it.

Most Mark III cruisers were scrapped before the end of their operational lives due to safety issues involving the turret. However, it remained an important stepping stone on the way to improved battleship and cruiser artillery designs. FNC Starbust is the only surviving unit, docked at the Imperial War Museum as an exhibit.
